I know what it means to be broken and chained
Surrounded by shadows, alone in my pain
Bound to sin, shame, & sorrow with no hope in sight
But He came into my darkness & He shined the light
Every chain has been shattered, the victory won
Yet deep in my heart, I know the battle’s not done
New mindset, new choices, new words I must speak
But the comfort and patterns keep calling to me
I know I can’t stay, but this place was my home
It’s dark but familiar, it’s all I had known
Still, I’m not a slave, no longer bound in this prison
I walk in the light, for my King is risen
This story’s not over-- no, this is the start
He gave me the Keys and the plea of His heart
To carry this gift and set captives free
Cause He’ll do for you what He’s done for me
